Guy Benjamin

Did you all see the April 2009 issue of Caribbean Life? On page 46 they have an article titled “Grand Old Man of St John” by Peter Muilenburg. It is about Guy Benjamin’s life. It starts out a bit morbid but as you read further you understand the beginning. It is very well written. I was happy to read an article in a major magazine about someone I knew written by some one I knew.

Peter’s wife use to tutor Juma when he was about 6 years old. I would drive to Haulover Bay and walk up to the mangroves. Dorothy would great me in her dingy and wisp Juma out to her boat for an hour session on reading. It all seemed very normal at the time but looking back it feels quite extraordinary.
